2 hard lessons

After only 4 days in the country we learned two hard lessons about being a whitey. Lesson 1: Don't experiment with eating raw fish (ceviche) at a place not recommended by the guidebook...it tends to cause internal distress, creating the need to stick close to the bathroom.

Lesson 2: White guys should not lay out in the sun for longer than 5 min. (much less an hour) this close to the equator...especially if you have rolls (notice my stomach). I'm smiling in this picture (and Jen laughed so hard she almost peed her pants), but within two hours I was in bed with a fever and chills and the thought of doing anything else but lay in bed was painful. This is almost as bad as the time I burned myself in Agua Azules in Mexico...oh, the memories (that's for you, Joan).

I know Dr. Beachy warned us about the water-food, but I don't remember any warnings about the sun in our travel consult...I see a malpractice suit in the making...at least $10,000 for pain and suffering.

Very, very funny. I think you have to be in country for you to sue me....

Have fun and be safe. Emma & Rae left for Philly today and I'm all alone in Eburg. Kind of a sad night. We miss you guys.

If you would have asked me, I would have told you about the time I went to Costa Rica....and how you shouldn't be in the sun too long. Yeh, that time I was Costa Rica was awesome. Did I ever tell you about that time? Anyway, I'm sure Peru is okay, if you like that sort of thing. Use better judgement next time. Stay safe. Joan

Well, look at those Abs...the 6 pack variety! Your story reminds me of a similar experience I had in Southern California. A day at the beach, for this white boy, landed me in ER. Take care.

Hey bro,

That reminds me of the time we floated down Meadowbrook. It was fun until that night when we found it impossible to put any pants on - ah the good times. Glad to see you made it. Thanks for the updates and remember to keep your head down.

I don't know how you can say those are six pack abs. Lewis, perhaps this is just politeness on your part. The legs look pretty good though...... Just teasing Andrew!
I envy you the heat and sun. Anymore snow and I'll just cry. Take care guys. Love, Sara

Kim - Please tell Janis hello...I can only imagine what she said... yeah, not quite six packs, but that will come with the high altitude training I am doing...which mainly consists of getting out of bed and walking to the nearest food source!! Five full days have passed and we are still suffering from learned lessons (Jen and her stomach and me and my sunburn). Thanks for all your comments. - Andrew
