Today we toured an alpaca wool manufacturer and we saw the entire process of making yarn from the alpaca in the field to the sheered wool to the final product (I bought a 100% baby alpaca scarf for $20). It is sooo soft! We even got to see a baby alpaca that was 4 hours old...it was so tiny, but like a horse, very quick on its feet already). We also toured the absolutely incredible Santa Catalina Monestary that dates back to the 1600´s and currently still has 20 cloistered nuns still living there--it was a small city made almost entirely of sillar (volcanic ash solidified into stone... unique to this part of the country because of all the volcanic activity of the surrounding mountains). Andrew bought a few fossilized shark´s teeth, and I also bought some beautiful polished stone pendents. We also bought our first Peruvian alpaca hats...we´ll post pictures of us modeling them later.
