North Star to Southern Cross

Super Dad!!

I just thought that I would post some proof that I have indeed been working with babies (although I need to working on my holding style). Please notice the shirt I bought to motivate me!! Our second ¨tour of duty¨with the babies went much easier...see the comments I left under the last post....I actually left a number of different comments, for those of you who were waiting for answers. We still have the two 12 hour shifts this weekend with the older kids, but with this shirt, I am sure all is possible (and maybe a few prayers from each of you!) I got the shirt in La Concha...one of the biggest outdoor markets in all of South America...the shirt cost $1 and smelled like Goodwill...or so Jen says...I can´t smell anything at the moment because of a bad head cold I got from one of those ¨sweet¨babies I am holding!! We got a great tour of La Concha from Linda Baker, who, along with her husband Jonathan, run the other home we are working at. It brought me back to my Peace Corps days (another one for you Joan!)...we saw everything for sale from whole cow heads (not attached), to what looked liked an acre of bananas, to caged kittens, to drain plugs. We look forward to going back and exploring more. It has been good to ¨settle in¨here - fun to explore new places, but wonderful to have a place to come ¨home¨to every night. We even had Kraft Mac and Cheese last night! Thank you all for you comments - we love hearing from all of you...and Congratulations to Dave and Pam. They have a new son, Matthew!

Phew!! makes me tired just looking at your pic. think of doing this all day every day & one can see why some mom's want to work (~:} I always felt that motherhood is one of the hardest jobs on earth - and one of the most satisfying if one hangs in there.
was the market like the one we went to in Nic.?? Cheers!! ART

Hello Brave (and cheerful) Person..Thank you for San Antonio phone call. As I mentioned (a lot I think) I was fresh from a similar experience and I felt, exquisitely, your pain. (: Pain has always been a strong incentive to prayer...at least in me...so I am very relieved to know that your following times of kid immersion were slightly? totally? moderately? better. Whatever others have that actually mkaes them want to seek out the company of babies, I haven't got. Have I mentioned this? (: So I am have great respect, with an inward almost shudder, for people like fantastic Jen, who REALLY enjoy other peoples' babies. (The shudder comes from my inward conviction that I would rather eat worms than care for 15 3 month to 3 year old persons in a 12 by 12 foot room. This is no lie. (: I will thus be your constant prayer person. Which is a very good thing. For both you and me. (: I can only give away my true feelings becasue I am going under the pseudonym of "Dad." (: I love you guys. Sorry about your cold.

O.K. Andrew, this proves to me that you are totally in love with your wife because this is not normal behaviour. You look like you are suffering and out of your element in spite of the shirt... Then I could be projecting my feelings into the picture! Lots of love to you both, Sara

Hi Jen and Andrew-

I got through all of your pictures and stories and it sounds like you guys are having a great time! Despite the extra company in the shower! :) Can't wait to see and hear more! Take care.

Love- Jessica Kramer

Andrew; you're not holding Wes anytime soon, you know. well, to be honest the kids don't seem too concerned with your holding style. The baby doesn't seem too concerned about much, actually. Maybe if you had a cape, they'd be more animated in the photo. Yeah, a cape and some tights that you wear on the outside of your pants. Never understood why Superman did that, but I digress.
